On Tuesday, April 1, 1997, Brown Bess foaled a dark bay or brown filly by Al Mamoon at Harris Farms. Brown Bess (Petrone - Chickadee, by Windy Sands), the 1989 Turf Eclipse Award winning filly/mare, won 3 grade I Turf events, including the 1989 running of the Yellow Ribbon at Santa Anita. Brown Bess’s earnings at the end of her racing career were $1,300,000. She was also the Champion Cal Bred horse of 1989. She is owned by Suzanne Pashayan. Breeding plans for 1997 are to breed her to Political Ambition, who stands at Harris Farms, located in Coalinga, CA.
