August 2nd. John Scott (Bertrando out of Henlopen by Deputy Minister) 2007 colt bred and owned by Harris Farms and Scott Gross. What an exciting race! We have been high on this colt for a long time and he was coming into the race very well, although I questioned if sprinting was to be his strongest suit. Going down the backside, that opinion was sure amplified, as you couldn’t find him with a search warrant. About the top of the stretch, Victor got him really into the race and he was in and out of horses down the lane like a seasoned LA freeway driver, although I still questioned if he could win it. He got home in front and hope springs eternal for him now.
