WHAT: HARRIS RANCH LNG STATION OPENING AND TRUCK DEPLOYMENT
An unusual coalition of truckers, conservationists and clean fuel advocates are joining
forces to jump start the largest launch - ever - of liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles
in California.
In a public/private partnership, Harris Ranch is replacing 12 aging diesel-powered trucks
with LNG trucks and opening the door to the first of three natural gas fueling stations
expected to begin operation within the year in the San Joaquin Valley.
WHEN: Wednesday, February 9, 2000 11:00 a.m.
WHERE: Harris Feeding Company Highway 145, approx. ½ mile east off I-5
WHY: The ICTC is building the infrastructure that will support the
economically-efficient, environmentally-friendly movement of people and goods across the
United States utilizing alternative fuels. Phase one, a triangular corridor expected to
link Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, is an interlocking series of
refueling stations and facilities along the I-80, I-5, I-10, CA 99 and the I-15 highways.
Harris Ranch's new fleet of LNG trucks are projected to reduce over 10 tons of particulate
matter and NOx emissions per year.
